Look at the physical environment and consider how to make it safer and more welcoming for people of all genders, including nonbinary people.

Provide gender neutral bathroom options for all staff and service users. Make sure language used by staff (including receptionists and people in similarly important roles) and displayed on posters is gender inclusive, e.g “Welcome everyone” instead of “Welcome ladies and gentlemen.” Provide gender neutral residential options where possible - avoid gender segregation and always consider the safety and wellbeing of trans and nonbinary people when separating people into gendered groups or areas.
